We are “Grif and Neek”. With a plan to explore the motherland, we set roots in Dar Es Salaam in September 2019. In only a short time, we have experienced being “finely ground·ed” in nearly all combinations of these definitions. The original premise behind finely ground·ed, stemmed from a story that most of our friends and family know intimately. It’s the story of how raw African coffee beans were carefully roasted, then finely ground…sparking our beautiful little romance. As we started to think about the words, we quickly realized that finely ground·ed, for us, was more than just a coffee reference. The phrase captured so many elements of our life and relationship that we have been striving to embody – simplicity, wholeheartedness, adventure, intentionality, authenticity and fun.
Sometimes being finely ground·ed is enjoyable and instagrammable. Other times, its gut wrenching. But hey, what we have learned from our most enjoyable cups of coffee is that the beans must be finely ground and brewed with hot water to create that memorable first sip and energizing experience.
We are excited to bring you along on this journey with us, sharing our unfiltered experience of continuing life on a highly misrepresented, historically complex and RICH continent. Enjoy.
